Marie is a plump red fox vixen. Her fur is white and red compared to the more orangey red fur that other red foxes have. She has the ‘sock’ fur patterns (the dark brown fur on their ears, arms, legs, and paws) that other red foxes have. She wears an orange bandanna. She wears a formal magician outfit with a frilly shirt and a suit jacket and a top hat, when she is performing magic.
Marie was born in Quebec, when she was a baby, her family moved across Canada in search of a better life; they eventually ended up in Alaska, where due to old superstitions about red foxes being thieves, they were met with hostility and prejudice. They came across a family of arctic foxes who helped them find a job on a fishing boat which meant they were at sea for most of the year. So, the family agreed to take care of their little vixen after their own child, Jon and Marie became very close friends. Growing up Marie never really saw her parents very often and became more a part of Jon’s family. Many years later, Marie’s parents wanted to move back to Canada, however Marie refused, not wanting to leave Jon. At the time she was old enough to live on her own and agreed to live with Jon and Aurora.
Jon and Marie are very close friends; Marie loves Jon a lot, as he was her only close friend since childhood. The two are often seen together. They share a special emotional bond. Marie has been interested in magic for a couple of years and can perform show magic as well as spiritual magick.
Marie is bubbly, easy going and friendly, she is very loyal to her friends, she is also kind of shy around new people, but once you get to know her, she is a friend for life. Marie also likes to perform magic and sometimes performs magic shows in town. She also enjoys snuggling up to Jon, especially in the cold of winter.
Artist Notes
Marie was created in 2006 as a new female main character for my artwork. Originally she was skinny and very dainty. In 2008 she got her current plump shape. Originally her eye shadow and bandana were green but were later changed to orange to make them not stand out as much. The magician theme came about in 2007, originally a more sexier outfit but later toned down to preserve her cuteness.
