Profile Info
Niki is a large Kodiak bear. She wears a Russian fur hat and a tribal outfit featuring a top with yellow circles and red stars and a loin cloth with a red star, an allusion to her native Russia. She stands very tall for a female bear.
She is originally from Russia but came to Alaska when she was younger with her family in search of a better life. Growing up she was not as girly as the other girl bears. She preferred to go out and play with the guys, which was good at the time, but she later found herself alone as the other male bears didnt want her with them because she was a girl, or they would try to come onto her which she didn’t like as she wanted to be part of their group, not their mate. The other female bears weren’t much better, as they thought she was too manly. She wandered from place to place for a while, but the other animals were always frightened of her because she was so big and large.
Eventually she met Aurora while they both were hunting. Niki was impressed by Aurora's fishing techniques. She never saw a wolf so skilled at fishing, as it was bears that were known for their fishing abilities. The two quickly became friends as they could both relate to each other very well. Niki also is good friends with Jon, as a manly girl, she feels she can relate to him, and what he goes through as a feminine male.
Niki is a tomboy; she is masculine in her behavior and looks. She can be kinda butch but in a more friendly way, not a standoffish type of butch girl. While she may look menacing, she is actually quite friendly and outgoing, especially after meeting Aurora. Before that she used to be quite withdrawn and aggressive. One of her favorite greetings is to grab someone and give them a huge bear hug. She also likes to throw her weight around, quite literally. She enjoys jumping onto piles of snow, crushing it with her immense weight. She sometimes pounces on people like that when she is feeling mischievous.
Artist Notes
Niki is the newest character of mine, created as a mate for Aurora. She is loosely based on someone I know in person. However as time went on, Niki developed into her own character. An original plan which was scrapped would have made her a transgender.
