Mystic Fox - Northern Lights

By Jon Lupus

Aurora’s den wasn’t very big, there were a few places to sit, many warm woven blankets, in the corner was a place to cook, and in the other corner a place for her to sleep. Jon and Marie sat down on the seats, whilst Aurora walked over to grab a few blankets.

“Blanket?” Aurora offered Jon and Marie a blanket.

“No thanks,” Marie replied. Aurora went to sit down across from them.

“So, what brings you here, blue fox?” Aurora said calmly, looking into Jon’s eyes.

“Who are you? What do you want from me? And why are you in my dreams?” Jon replied angrily.

“I asked you first,” Aurora replied sighing, “So many questions, and I’m sure if I told you how I did it, you would want me to teach you to do it too?”

Jon was silent.

“I’ll take that silence as a yes, don’t worry young one, I have every intention of showing you everything. The way of nature, of mother earth, if I’m not mistaken, that’s why you came here.”

Jon nodded.

“The reason I came here,” Jon replied, “is exactly as you say, I was tired of my old routine, my old life, and I wanted to start a new life, living care free in nature.”

Aurora got up, and looked outside the window of her den, out into the stars.

“Well life out here isn’t care free, the mice are eaten by the snakes, which are in turn eaten by hawks, which are in turn killed by mountain lions,” Aurora turned to Jon, “Plus, we don’t have all your modern conveniences.”

“That’s fine, I’m ready!” Jon got up from his seat. Aurora walked up to Jon and looked him in the eyes, studying them somewhat curiously.

“I see determination and curiosity in your eyes. Our journey begins tomorrow, for now its time for sleep. There isn’t much we can do now. Rest up, you two I will see you tomorrow,” Aurora walked over to her bed, and fell asleep.

“I wanted to start now! Oh well,” Jon turned to Marie, “I suppose it would be better if I rest,” Jon yawned, “I suppose its better I start when I’m not tired.”

“Hehehe, yup,” Marie smiled, took some blankets from Aurora’s pile of blankets, and lay down on the floor, and fell asleep.

Jon, not tired enough to fall asleep, went over to the window where Aurora was earlier, and looked up at the stars,

‘Well this is it, I wonder if this lady really knows what she’s talking about. I just have to wait and see I guess…,’

A short while later, Jon yawned, took off his coat, got out his sleeping bag from his backpack, and also went to sleep.
